Education vs Success?

We (grad students in our dept) were randomly talking about famous, rich, influential people. The list obviously includes past presidents, past successful entrepreneurs, and very smart people like Albert Einstein or Steve Wozniak. Looking at these people who have made differences in history, I couldn't help but thinking that perhaps we are just some components that exist for a few distinguished people. The analogy was that we could be looked at as hmm.. PCI bus controller? perhaps? while those people are the CPUs.

Highschool, Undergrad, and Gradschool have trained us well to be a fast, efficient component. What should I do to be more significant component?
